Awarding of the Pasture's Master in Salzburg
In summer 2011 Federal Government of Salzburg in collaboration with Umweltbüro GmbH hosted the first time a Pastures Championship in order to honor the farmers with species rich pastures. Fortunately, a total of 131 companies with 205 pastures took part in it.

The awarding ceremony of the Salzburg Pastures Championship was held on 18 November 2011 in the Agricultural College of Winklhof in Oberalm town. In four main categories the awards were presented to the following farmers: Sebastian Hohenwarter from Unken for his scenic wonderful Golden Oat Grassland (winner in the category of “Species Rich Pastures”), Elisabeth and Franz Krimbacher from Wald in Pinzgau for their mountain meadow, as the only pasture which got the full number of points (winner in the category of “Mountain Meadows”), Thomas Strubreiter from Golling for his wonderful wet meadow in landscape protected area Seewaldsee (winner in the category of “Wet Meadows”) and Anna Gruber from Oberweissburg for her specially beautiful distinctive low-fertility meadow (winner in the category of „Dry Low-Fertility Meadow“).

Beside the four categories, 16 additional favorites have been chosen. Another farmer received a special award for his outstanding commitment to species conservation, he adapted the management of its wet meadow to the endangered Fen Orchid (Liparis loeselii), protected according to Annex II of the FFH Directive.

Provincial Councilor Sepp Eisl handed over the certificates to 21 winners. The awarding ceremony was accompanied by a film about Pastures Championship by Samuel Kaeppeli and a spontaneous musical contribution by Kirfel-Buam.
